Title | Retinitis,encountered in a tertiary eye care centre |
Purpose | To study pattern of retinitis in a tertiary eye care center in Bangladesh |
Methods | . We have studied retrospectively cases of retinitis from January 2017 to December 2021 in Bangladesh Eye Hospital and Institute |
Results | We have found 18 cases of acute retinal necrosis ( ARN), 8 cases of cytomegalovirus retinitis( CMV retinitis) and 2 cases of post fever retinitis. Among the 18 cases of ARN, it was possible to do anterior chamber tap for PCR only 8 cases and all were positive for Varicella Zoster. Among 8 cases of CMV retinitis 4 were positive for HIV, 4 were treated with chemotherapy. There were also 3 cases of retinitis associated with Behcet’s disease and 2 cases associated with systemic lupus erythrometosis. |
Conclusion | Viral retinitis is more common in our daily practice |
