Scleritis in three diffarent clinical presentation
Purpose
To present 3 different cases of scleritis in a tertiary centre of Bangladesh.
Methods
An observational case series of three cases of scleritis at Chittagong Eye Infirmary & Training Complex. Detail history, thorough clinical examination, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit lamp examination, indirect ophthalmoscope, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography ( FFA ), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scan Microscopic report were performed according to the cases FFA was performed in 2nd and 3rd case, Microscopic report obtained from 2nd cases. Diagnosis was made by clinical history, ocular findings, appropriate ancillary tests and microscopic report.
An internet search (Medline search) and review of current literature on scleritis were done and information relevant to our objectives was obtained.
Results
Three patients presented with painful blurring of vision in affected eye.One of them were male. & Two of them were at the age of 40 another one was at the age of 25.All three patient had left eye affected and vision less than 6/60. One had anterior scleritis, one had posterior scleritis other had scleritis with exudative RD.Two of the cases were infective,one was pseudomonas and other was tuberculus. All of them were treated with systemic steroid and infective two were get systemic antibiotic according to the infection
Conclusion
: Scleritis is not a rare disease and it can cause loss of vision due to severe complication. But proper evaluation and in time proper treatment may save the eye with good vision.
