Purpose | To report a case of diffuse chorioretinitis manifesting subretinal exudation |
Methods | We report a case of diffuse chorioretinits. The disease course, lab examination result, medical and surgical treatment, and response were presented. |
Results | A 44 year-old man with monocular diffuse chorioretinitis showed expanding yellow-white subretinal exudation. Routine uveitis survey showed negative for syphilis, primary toxoplasmosis or viral retinitis. Initial impression was endogenous endophthalmitis. Systemic anti-fungal treatment showed poor effect. Ocular lymphoma was also considered. Vitreous biopsy and culture excluded infection disease or lymphoma. We than started steroid and immune-modulation treatment. The condition improved gradually thereafter. The exudation diminished and chorioretinitis remitted gradually, leaving diffuse choroidal scar. |
Conclusion | Yellow white exudation is an uncommon manifestation of chorioretinitis. After excluding infection and masquerade syndrome, immunomodulation treatment should be given carefully to control the inflammation. |
