Accept poster if oral is not possible ?Yes
PurposeTo evaluate the efficacy of prednisolone acetate 1% and tacrolimus 0.03% on IL-6 aqueous humor levels in LPS-induced EIU model rats.
Methods Experimental research in Biochemistry Laboratory of Medicine Faculty, Universitas Brawijaya in June-August 2018. Uveitis was induced via injection of lipopolysaccharides (LPS) into Wistar rats. Four groups of animal experiments: a negative control (group I), a positive control (group II), group III and IV were LPS-induced and given with prednisolone acetate 1% and tacrolimus 0.03%. Forty-eight hours after LPS induction, IL-6 levels were measured in aqueous humor using ELISA. This research has received an ethical clearance from The Health Research Ethics Commission of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, Number 184/EC/KEPK-PPDS/08/2018
ResultsThe mean values of IL-6 aqueous humor levels in group I, II, III, and IV were 16.390 ± 2.093 ng/L, 31.374 ± 1.265 ng/L, 20.790 ± 0.754 ng/L, and 22.755 ± 1.161 ng/L respectively. There was no significant difference in IL-6 levels between groups of prednisolone acetate 1% and of tacrolimus 0.03% (p>0.05, CI 95%).
ConclusionThere is no significant difference of IL-6 level between prednisolone acetate 1% and tacrolimus 0.03%. Tacrolimus 0.03% may used as alternative therapy for anterior uveitis.
