TitleEye histological structure in non-infectious anterior and intermediate uveitis without and with neuroprotective therapy in late term (experimental study)
PurposeCarry out a histological examination of the eye structures in experimental non-infectious anterior and intermediate uveitis in rabbits without and with neuroprotective therapy (cyticolin) at the late terms of disease.
MethodsCarry out a histological examination of the eye structures in experimental non-infectious anterior and intermediate uveitis in rabbits without and with neuroprotective therapy (cyticolin) at the late terms of disease.
ResultsAt the 33-54 days after modeling of the uveitis we determined structural disturbance of the retinal layers, numerous retinal tractions into the vitreous, decrease in the number of neurons in the nuclear layers, subatrophy and other pathological phenomena. A small number of lymphocytes were present. Nevertheless, areas of the retina with a structure close to normal were also preserved.
Group, which received neuroprotector, demonstrated some retinal areas completely unchanged. The severity of еру pathological changes in the retina varies from strong to weak.
ConclusionThus, the progression of destructive-degenerative processes in the retina was noted in the rabbits of first group, which did not receive a neuroprotector. The neuroprotector we used in rabbits of the second group could not completely stop the dystrophic processes in the rabbits retina, initiated by the anterior ant intermediate uveitis. But neuroprotector slowed down dystrophic processes progress, and thus the transition to neurodegeneration.
