| Title | Mycophenolate for the Treatment of Eye Involvement in Patients with Behçet’s Syndrome |
| Accept poster if oral is not possible ? | Yes |
| Purpose | We aimed to report the efficacy and safety of mycophenolate in the treatment of uveitis due to BS in a tertiary center
|
| Methods | We retrospectively analyzed patients charts between 2016 and 2018. Demographic characteristics, previous immunosuppressive agents, concomitant therapies, visual acuity, time to uveitis reactivation, and adverse events were extracted |
| Results | We included 13 BS patients treated with mycophenolate during a median follow-up of 11 months. Six patients were prescribed mycophenolate for remission induction (2 were prescribed mycophenolate in addition to a biologic agent, 4 patients had further uveitis attacks and 3 are continuing treatment with mycophenolate and a biologic agent and the fourth was switched to combination of azathioprine and cyclosporine-A) and 7 were for maintanence (Two patients were using infliximab when mycophenolate was started. Five of the 7 patients were in remission at the end of follow-up. Infliximab and adalimumab was added in the remaining 2 patients due to further ocular attacks) |
| Conclusion | Mycophenolate may be an effective treatment modality for maintenance of Behçet’s uveitis and in addition to biologics for remission induction. Further data is needed to show whether it would be effective for remission induction when used alone. Mycophenolate was well tolerated in this small series.
