Greetings from the IOIS President

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to Rio de Janeiro and the 2025 Congress of the International Ocular Inflammation Society!  The 2025 IOIS Congress is dedicated to honor the late Professor Phuc LeHoang, former President of the IOIS.

The International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS), as the largest organization of physicians and scientists in the world devoted to uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases, wishes to foster a family and a forum for colleagues from every corner of the globe to come together to share common interests.

Our IOIS Congress, which occurs every two years, is always co-organized by the IOIS and a national society nominated by the International Council of the IOIS. The 2025 IOIS Congress, in the beautiful, world-class city of Rio de Janeiro, is no exception. During the past 14 months, the Brazilian Uveitis Society, led by Dr. Andre Curi and Dr. Daniel Vitor Vasconcelos-Santos, has worked tirelessly with the Executive Board and Mrs. Christy Lacroix, the Executive Officer of the IOIS, to bring to you four unforgettable days of congress activities.  We are very grateful to Andre and Daniel and the Brazilian colleagues.

As you begin with the IOIS Basic Course in Uveitis, please recognize that the 2025 Course is the product of many hours of hard work of planning by Dr. Zheng-Xian Thng (Singapore) and Dr. Ilaria Testi (United Kingdom) in conjunction with Dr. Carlos Pavesio (United Kingdom) and me.

In choosing which presentations, which sessions, which symposia  ... to attend to gain the newest information and knowledge  and latest updates on the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of protean types of uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases, please know that the superb Scientific Program is put together by the Scientific Program Committee chaired by Dr. Aniruddha Agarwal (United Arab Emirates) and co-chaired by Dr. Wataru Matsumiya (Japan).  The Scientific Program is truly rich, representing the most fascinating topics and talented faculty from more than 50 national societies and disease sections – all form a remarkable assembly of the absolute best in uveitis!

Whether in a scientific session, during a coffee break, amidst the General Assembly, or at the Congress Gala, we hope that you will have the most enjoyable time and memorable moments during your time at the 2025 IOIS Congress and in Rio de Janeiro.  Expand your circle of friends and colleagues and meet a few new colleagues!   Creating  a new friendship is one of the most valuable assets that we can gain in attending an international congress.

We wish you a very safe journey to and from Rio de Janeiro and a wonderful time at the 2025 IOIS Congress. To spark our Congress and to highlight the very international nature of our Society – the IOIS, please fashion your national and cultural attire during the Congress, especially during the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, June 26 and the Gala on Friday, June 27!

With Warmest Regards

Quan Dong Nguyen - IOIS President
