Accept poster if oral is not possible ? | Yes |
Purpose | To define the clinical manifestations in pediatric patients with uveitis. |
Methods | Multicenter retrospective review from major uveitis referral centers in Taiwan. |
Results | One hundred and twenty-six pediatric patients were included in the study. Among all forms of pediatric uveitis, anterior uveitis being most common, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis-associated uveitis is the most frequent among children in Taiwan. Treatment of uveitis in children is more difficult for various reasons, and side effects of treatment tend to be more disturbing for children and less well tolerated than by adults. |
Conclusion | Since long-term sequelae of suboptimal therapy will have a devastating effect for the young patients and their parents, eye specialists should be especially mindful of this special patient group. |
